About Planetia

What is Planetia?

Planetia is an educational iPad app that lets kids ages 5-9 explore the solar system. It includes six modes: Explore (interactive 3D solar system), Size Comparison, Space Quiz, Customize (planet coloring), What If? (gravity physics sandbox), and Build Your Own Solar System.

What devices does Planetia support?

Planetia is designed exclusively for iPad. It requires iPadOS 17.0 or later. The app is optimized for the iPad's larger screen to give kids the best experience exploring planets and building solar systems.

Is Planetia safe for children?

Yes. Planetia is published in Apple's Kids Category and complies with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). The app contains no ads, no social features, no external links accessible to children, and collects no personal data. All app data is stored locally on your device.

Is Planetia really free?

Yes. Planetia is completely free with no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, and no locked features. Every mode — Explore, Compare, Quiz, Customize, What If?, and Build Your Own — is fully available from the moment you download it.

Using the App

My child's progress seems to have reset. What happened?

Quiz scores, badges, ranks, and saved solar systems are stored locally on your iPad. If the app was deleted and reinstalled, this data is not recoverable.

Can my child use Planetia offline?

Yes. After downloading, Planetia works entirely offline. No internet connection is needed to explore, take quizzes, customize planets, or use any other feature.

How do the quiz badges and ranks work?

As your child takes quizzes, they earn badges for specific achievements (like getting a perfect score or answering quickly) and climb through six ranks from Space Cadet to Admiral based on total quiz points. Badges and ranks are displayed in the quiz section of the app.

What is the "What If?" mode?

What If? is a gravity physics sandbox where kids can change the rules of the solar system and watch what happens. Scenarios include removing Jupiter, doubling Earth's mass, adding a second sun, and more. Kids can also build their own custom scenarios. Real gravitational physics drive the simulation.
